Travertine

Travertine is similar to limestone except that it formed as the result of very heavy precipitation and depositing of calcium carbonate over a very long period of time. This occurs near mineral springs, particularly hot springs, and near entrances to limestone caves. Although most of our travertine is imported, we do have numerous significant travertine deposits in the US. Yellowstone National Park is known for its rich travertine deposits surround their geothermal areas.

Travertine is also a very popular choice for floors. As with all natural stone, it will  eventually lose its sheen from wear, dirt, cleaning detergents, could easily become scratched or maybe even gouged and will etch as it is acid sensitive like marble and limestone. Whatever the case, we provide a full range of services for your travertine.

Also, because of the naturally formed holes and voids in travertine, in addition to the services we offer below, we also do travertine hole filling using epoxies made specifically for travertine which are available in a range of colors that can be further adjusted on site to match.
